1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> Two underground storage tanks (USTs) were discovered on City of Stockton property <br /> during construction activities. Geofon, Inc. (Geofon) was contacted by the City of Stockton to <br /> assist with removal of these USTs. <br /> The USTs to be removed are 1,500-gallons in capacity and the project site is located at <br /> the northeast corner of El Dorado and Weber streets, Stockton, California. It shall be assumed <br /> that the USTs are resting on native soil. The USTs are made of single wall steel and are assumed <br /> to have stored heating fuel. <br /> It is the intent of Geofon to provide a safe work environment for employees, government <br /> personnel and subcontractors. This Site Safety and Health Plan (SSHP) has been developed to <br /> fulfill the following objectives: <br /> 1. Instruct employees and subcontractors on procedures to minimize the potential for <br /> injury or exposure to a hazardous condition. <br /> 2. Train employees and subcontractors on the proper action to be taken if a <br /> hazardous condition cannot be avoided by engineering controls <br /> 3. Provide guidelines for emergency response for known hazards and hazardous <br /> situations. <br /> 4. Specify actions required to comply with applicable (a) Occupational Safety and <br /> Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and (2) State and local regulations or <br /> other requirements. <br /> These health and safety requirements are developed in accordance with requirements and <br /> guidelines of the OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.120, California Code of Regulations, Title 8, <br /> �- Section 5192, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Resource Conservation <br /> I <br />
