Sep -02-99 01:04P Evan= Svotfhevs Inc. 925 ^43 0229 P.09 <br />Gateway Project - Stockton, CA Evens Brothers Inc. <br />2.5 Special Provisions <br />This SSP has attempted to discuss and address identified and anticipated health and <br />safety issues as they may arise from the performance of this contract. Changes in Scope <br />will be reviewed by the Project Manager and Site Health and Safety Officer for any <br />potential changes to this SSP. <br />3. PERSONNEL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT <br />3.1 Introduction <br />It is important that personal protective equipment and safety requirements be <br />appropriate to protect against the potential havards at the site. Protective equipment will <br />be selected based on the contaminant type(s), concentration(s), and routes of entry. In <br />situations where the type of materials and possibilities of contact are unknown or the <br />hazards are not clearly identifiable, a more subjective determination must be made of <br />the personal protective equipment needed. <br />Field personnel and visitors are required to wear the following clothing and equipment, <br />as a minimum, while on the project: <br />• Hard Hat (required) <br />• Work Boots (required) <br />• Safety Glasses (as appropriate) <br />• Long Sleeved Shirt (as appropriate) <br />• Fluorescent Vest (as appropriate) <br />• Hearing Protection (as appropriate) <br />3.l Levels of Protection - General <br />Level A: Should be worn when the highest level of respiratory, skin, and eye protection <br />is needed. <br />• SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) <br />• Fully Encapsulating Suit <br />Level B: Should be selected when the highest level of respiratory protection is needed, <br />but a lesser level of skin protection is required. <br />• Air supplied respirator <br />• Coated Tyvek suit, such as Saranex <br />• Butyl nitrile rubber or neoprene gloves <br />• Inner latex or vinyl gloves <br />• Work boots <br />• Outer boots/chemical resistant <br />• Hard hat <br />• Fluorescent vest (as appropriate) <br />• Hearing protection (as appropriate) <br />• Inner Disposable Gloves (2 pairs recommended) <br />Page 7 of 25 <br />
