1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> This report documents the removal of (1)empty 300 Gallon(#TA-0515717) <br /> underground storage tank located at 368 E. l I" Street, Tracy, California. The purpose of <br /> this report is to satisfy regulatory requirements surrounding removal and disposal of <br /> underground storage tanks. This report is a narrative of events performed under the <br /> guidelines of the Tank Removal Permit issued by the County of San Joaquin, California. <br /> Wright Environmental Services, Inc. —General Engineering Contractor License# 601501 <br /> —Class A with hazardous Certification-proposed to excavate and remove (1) single <br /> walled steel underground storage tank with a capacity of 300 gallons. The tank was to be <br /> removed and disposed of in accordance with guidelines established by the County of San <br /> Joaquin environmental Health department. The tank was to be cleaned, purged and then <br /> certified"empty" prior to removal and transportation. (Note: Tank Excavation <br /> Activities began on April 9,2004. The actual tank removal occurred on April 12, <br /> 2004 and the required soil sampling was performed on the same day.) <br /> 2.0 SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> The site was the former location of"Tracy Quick Freeze",which had been demolished by <br /> others prior to information of the UST. The property itself covers approximately a 150ft. <br /> by 160 ft. lot adjacent to DMV and across Civic Center Dr. from the Tracy Police <br /> Department, along E. I I's Street. <br /> 3.0 TANK DESCRIPTIONS AND BACKGROUND <br /> The tank was located toward the back side(southern side) of the lot and was formerly <br /> used to fuel ice cream trucks,which a former ice-cream company had leased, space at the <br /> property. The tank was single-walled steel, 300-gallon underground storage tank. The <br /> tank installation date is unknown. And the closurelout of service date is unknown. <br /> Permit applications for tank removal were obtained from the County of San Joaquin <br /> Environmental Health Department and City of Tracy Fire Department. No other permits <br /> are associated with the subject tank. <br /> The 300 gallon tank was cylindrical in shape, setting horizontally and measuring <br /> approximately 4' in diameter by approximately 6'-9". The tank rested on what appeared <br /> to be a sandy bedding and was covered with native soils. Fill port and dispensing and <br /> vent piping was uncovered abandoned in place. The storage tanks(and piping)when <br /> taken out of service(date unknown)were drained of fuel and left dry. <br />
