HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN FOR <br />ULTRAMAR #756 <br />13975 E. HIGHWAY 88, LOCKEFORD, CA <br />1.0 INTRODUCTION <br />The purpose of this Health and Safety Plan (HSP) is to define on-site health and <br />safety roles, health and safety procedures, and discuss chemical and physical <br />hazards which may be encountered at 13976 E. Highway 88, Lockeford, <br />California (site) during the tank removal project. <br />The elements of the HSP include procedures for personnel protection and <br />equipment safety, medical surveillance, air quality monitoring , and general work <br />practices. This plan also details the proper emergency procedures including <br />emergency response and first-aid capabilities. Compliance with this HSP is <br />required of all workers and third parties who enter the site while work is in progress. <br />2.0 ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION PLAN <br />It is important to protect the surrounding environment as it exists around the work <br />area involved. All efforts will be made to insure protection of natural resources <br />within the boundaries of the project and within the work area. All demolition and <br />excavation will be limited to the enclosed work area. <br />Dust control measures will be taken and performed in compliance with generally <br />accepted procedures. The work area will be sprinkled with dust suppressant <br />regularly to prevent dust from being transported to adjacent areas, causing <br />discomfort. All machinery used will be in compliance with EPA requirements for low <br />noise emissions. <br />Generated hazardous waste will be handled and disposed of in compliance with the <br />following: 40 CFR 260,40 CFR 261, 40 CFR 262, 40 CFR 263, CFR 1910, Title 22 <br />Division 4, title 23, Cal OSHA and Cal Haz-Mat Enforcement and Liability. <br />3.0 HEALTH AND SAFETY PERSONNEL <br />The following sections briefly describe the health and safety personnel and general <br />responsibilities which will be employed during the UST removal activities. <br />3.1 Health and Safety Manager (HSM) <br />The HSM has the primary responsibility for ensuring that the policies and <br />procedures of this HSP are implemented.
