OSHA 29 CFR 1920. Trenching will comply with 8 CFR1539 to 1547. No individual <br />is to enter an excavation until approved to do so by the SHSC. <br />Prior to the excavation activities, Bonsall Petroleum Construction (BPC) will insure <br />that buried gas lines, water lines, electrical cables and other underground utilities <br />have been located. If necessary, local utility companies will be consulted. The <br />project site will remain fenced until the excavation(s) have been backfilled and are <br />no longer a safety risk. The SHSC will insure that unauthorized persons do not <br />enter the site and that all personnel on site have proof of up to date OSHA <br />29CFR1910.120 training certification. <br />All personnel onsite will be required to wear level D personal protective equipment <br />as described in section 7.3 of this health and safety plan. Fire extinguishers will be <br />placed around the site per the Fire Department. <br />4.1 Utilities <br />All related and non -related utilities above and below ground in the work area, will <br />be located by Underground Service Alert (USA), and visual search methods. The <br />utilities directly related will be shut off and disconnected prior to beginning the <br />operation, in accordance with 8 CCR 2320. <br />4.2 Pavement <br />Concrete and asphalt will be removed by breaking it with a backhoe equipped with <br />a pneumatic attachment and loading the debris in to a dump truck for proper <br />recycling and/or disposal. <br />4.3 Clean -Up <br />Debris and rubbish will be removed daily or stored out of the way in a separate <br />location, inside the fenced work area. Debris and rubbish will be transported in a <br />manner that will prevent spillage. <br />5.0 GENERAL HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS <br />5.1 Personnel Training Requirement <br />Consistent with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 regulation covering Hazardous Waste <br />Operations and Emergency Response, all site personnel are required to be trained <br />in accordance with the standard. At a minimum, all personnel are required to be <br />trained to recognize the hazards on-site, the provisions of this HSP and the <br />responsible personnel. <br />
