7.0 DISCOLORED EMBANKMENT SOIL EVALUATION
The last remaining area of concern is the discolored soil on the banking
adjacent to the tank and warehouse. It appeared this area received run-off
from the face lift truck washing operations. A predisposal analysis performed
on a soil sample (found in Appendix VIII) taken in May 1985 showed no
indication of hazardous material . The soil had a strong odor, however,
indicating a high degree of biological activity. If conditions have not
changed, the soil would not have to be disposed of in a secure site. It could
be left in place, regraded, covered with top soil , and planted over or removed
to a sanitary landfill . A cost estimate for removal of the soil is being
prepared as part of the tank closure plan.
a
ENG:0551/02196
