General Site Rules <br /> No person shall act or perform any activity which could be <br /> unsafe. <br /> • No person shall eat, drink, smoke or apply cosmetics in any <br /> regulated area. Such activities shall be performed only <br /> where designated. <br /> • No person shall enter a regulated area alone at any time. <br /> Even if the entry is only for a moment, the person shall be <br /> with a buddy. This "buddy" system shall be required for all <br /> regulated areas or confined spaces. <br /> b . Permit Requirements <br /> The General Contractor shall ensure that all permits, licenses, <br /> notices or notifications from Federal, State or Local agencies <br /> have been secured as required for the given activity. <br /> C . Material Handling Procedures for Contaminated Soil <br /> Materials shall be handled, stored, transported and disposed in a <br /> safe manner. <br /> All workers handling waste materials shall wear leather gloves <br /> while handling drums or sharp objects . <br /> • The tested material shall then be disposed of as mandated by <br /> test results. The contractor shall prepare the required <br /> Hazardous Waste Manifests. <br /> d . Drum and Container Handling <br /> Drums shall be handled using an appropriate drum-dolly with <br /> securing strap. Two persons shall handle each drum to ensure that <br /> no one will be injured. Workers shall wear leather gloves when <br /> handling material drums <br /> e . Fire Safety <br /> The contractor shall take all precautions to prevent fire hazards <br /> and control flammable or combustible materials. <br /> Provide type "ABC" dry chemical extinguishers for the entrance to <br /> the Exclusion Zone, in the decontamination area and hazardous <br /> material storage area. <br /> f . Electrical Safety <br /> The contractor shall follow all rules and regulations pertaining <br /> to electrical safety, specifically those in the Safety and Health <br /> Requirements Manual EM 385-1-1 (Oct 1992) , pages 151-190 <br /> 50 <br /> Site Safety i Health Plan Rev./l.o <br /> October 20, 1997 <br />
