1. Personnel Injury`in the Exclusion Zone: <br /> a. Minor-Slips, trips & falls or minor accidents-person can <br /> exit on own power. <br /> Assist the worker to the decontamination area and help <br /> with decontamination. Decontaminate as normal. <br /> Pay particular attention for bloodborne pathogen <br /> exposure. <br /> b. Chemical Exposure <br /> Assist person to decontamination area and sound <br /> Emergency signal to notify all to exit. Get SSHM to <br /> decontamination area to assess worker condition and <br /> proceed to contact emergency personnel. <br /> C. Heat Stress <br /> Assist worker to decontamination area and decontaminate <br /> as usual. <br /> Have worker go to cool area, lie down and drink 1 to 2 <br /> glasses of a balanced electrolyte solution (Gatorade or <br /> All-Sport, etc. ) <br /> If person is severely heat affected, call emergency <br /> assistance immediately <br /> d. Electrical burn or shock <br /> Assist worker through decontamination. Summon medical <br /> help immediately. <br /> e. Other serious injury <br /> Get the person to the Contamination Reduction Zone if <br /> possible and get fresh air to person. <br /> Contact emergency personnel (911) immediately. <br /> Upon notification of an injury in the Exclusion Zone, the designated <br /> emergency signal Short-Short-Short Horn Blast shall be sounded. A11 <br /> site personnel shall assemble at the decontamination line. The rescue <br /> team will enter the Exclusion Zone (if required) to remove the injured <br /> person to the hotline. The Site Safety Manager and Project <br /> superintendent shall evaluate the nature of the injury, and the affected <br /> person shall be decontaminated to the extent possible prior to movement <br /> to the Support Zone. <br /> The onsite EMT if available shall initiate the appropriate first-aid. <br /> Project/Site Superintendent shall immediately call an ambulance and the <br /> designated medical facility. <br /> 68 <br /> Site Safety 6 Health Plan Rev./1.0 <br /> October 20, 1997 <br />
