T M _.
AR 10
Iffieffes"Taft. SACRAMENTO
November 19, 1990
Mr. Harlan Knoll
NCO Registered Environmental Health Specialist
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
445 N. San Joaquin
Stockton, California 95202
Reference: Addendum to the Remediation Plan for the
Pacific Bell Ashley Road Facility; (UE-132) ;
Versar Job No 6264.308
Dear Sir:
The purpose of this letter is to present an Addendum to
Versar's Remediation Plan for the Pacific Bell Facility located
at 7644 Ashley Road, Stockton, California.
INTRODUCTION
_ The Pacific Bell Ashley Road facility im located in San
Joaquin County, northeast of the City of Stockton, California.
Figure 1 (Attachment I) shows the site location. The facility is
the site of known soil contamination as a result of a .leak from a
1,000 underground storage tank (UST) . Figure 2 (Attacnment I)
shows the site layout. The UST had contained diesel fuel used to
operate the facility's emergency generator. The contamination
was originally discovered from the analysis of two soil samples
collected during the removal of the UST by LBME Corporation
(LBME) in April, 1988. Based upon a letter work plan prepared by
LBME, a site investigation was conducted on October 31 and
November 1, 1988. The investigation which included the drilling
of four boreholes, was supervised, at the request of Pacific
Bell, by Versar. The results of the inveL igation were ;
documented by Versar in a report entitled "Site Assessment of the
Pacific Bell Ashley Road Stockton Facility (UE-132) " dated
k January 3, 1989. The investigation identified the presence of up
to 7,100 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) of petroleum
hydrocarbons as diesel fuel (TPH-d) at a depth of 30 feet below
the surface. Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX)
were also reported to be present. Benzene was identified at less
than one mg/kg and the other volatile compounds were in the range
from zero to six mg/kg., `it is unknown if ground water, which is
reported to be present at the site at a depth of greater than 60
feet below the surface, has been impacted.
