Weber Street 3`d floor
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Dispenser Soil Sampling Report
Atlantic Richfield Company Facility No. 5569
3518 E. Hammer Lane
Stockton, California
Delta Project No. D000-337
Dear Mr. Pedraza:
Delta Environmental Consultants, Inc. (Delta) was contracted by Atlantic Richfield
Company (ARCO) to perform soil sampling beneath the former dispenser locations
during dispenser and product line replacement activities at ARCO Facility No. 5569 (the
Site; see Figures 1 and 2), located at 3518 E. Hammer Lane Stockton, California. The
purpose of the soil sampling was to fulfill requirements of the San Joaquin County Public
Health Services. This report presents the data collected during the former dispenser
sampling.
Soil Sampling
On July 31, 2000, a Delta representative, working under the direction of a California
Registered Geologist, visited the Site to collect soil samples from locations beneath the
former gasoline dispensers and associated product piping. Delta collected soil samples
under the direction of Mr. Vidal Pedraza, the Registered Environmental Health Specialist
representing San Joaquin County. Eight soil samples (Dl-2 through D8-2) were
collected from beneath the dispensers and five soil samples (P1 through P5) were
collected from beneath product piping (Figure 2). The samples were collected at depths
ranging from 3 to 5 feet below ground surface (bgs). The samples were all collected by
driving a brass sleeve into soil recovered in a hand auger from approximately 2 feet
below the first contact with native soil. The ends of each brass tube were then covered
using Teflon TM sheets and plastic caps and the samples were placed in an ice-chilled
cooler. Each sample was sealed, labeled with the ARCO station number, sample name,
collection date and collection time. To avoid cross contamination between samples, all
sampling equipment was washed with an aqueous solution of AlconoxTM detergent,
rinsed with potable water, and rinsed again with distilled water.
Providing a Competitive Edge
