MAJESTIC TECH
See the Exposure Monitoring Action table for control
measures to take based on the highest measurements obstained
at any one time.
10 . 2. 4 HEAT STRESS:
Heat stress monitoring shall begin when ambient conditions
exceed 85' F. when working in Level C. Ambient conditions
shall be determined by maintaining a properly Calibrated
outdoor thermometer in each location, or by monitoring local
weather reports throughout each workshift .
Heat stress exposure shall be evaluated by monitoring heart
rate. The radial pulse shall ne taken for 30 seconds
immediately upon beginning to rest ( i. e. , at the beginning
of a rest break) . This rate shall be multiplied by two to
determine the heart rate at intial rest. This rate should
not exceed 110 beats per minute ( bpm) . Following three
minutes of rest, the heart rate shall be taken again ( same
procedure) . The difference between the inital and third
minute heart rate should be greater than 10 bpm.
If the initial rate exceeds 110 bpm OR the difference the
initial and third minute rate is less than 10 bpm, then the
work period shell be shortened by 33Y and the rest period
incresed by 35% .
The SHO shall be responsible for taking all heart rates .
All heart rate monitoring shall be recorded on an Exposure
Monitoring Log. Monitoring shall begin at the first rest
break. The first rest break snall be taken within the first
hour Of Work when ambient Conditions exceed 854F. if working
in Level D and within the first 30 minutes if ambient
conditions exceed 70'F. if working in Level C.
10. 2 . 5 NOISE;
All field personnel shall be required to wear hearinS
protective devices having a Noise Reduction Rating ( NRR) of
28 or greater in all active air operations area and when
using pnuematically driven equipment ( i. e• , use of
non-sparking rivet-buster to open tanks ) , As such, noise
monitoring will not automatically be required. In addition,
hearing protective devices shall be worn anytie, in the
opinion of teh SHO, there exists a potential noise hazard.
Individual operations may be checked using a Sound Level
Meter, as appropriate for the operation.
