Although the UST was thought to have contained only diesel fuel, the
analytical results (the elevated TEX concentrations) and odors detected indicate
that gasoline may also be pr i e sur-fac't\appears that at some
time in the past, the UST, a revious US o a second UST w s present and stored
gasoline. The concrete pie es a to n st—o€—''-a concrete slab may have
been used as a base for a second fuel dispenser in the past and could account
for the contamination in the southwestern portion of the excavation.
r
Before a proper remedial action plan can be developed for the site,
the nature and lateral and vertical extent of soil contamination and, if
required, ground water contamination will have to be determined. To accomplish
this, we recommend that a phased site assessment, including a soil vapor survey
followed by the drilling of soil borings completed to monitories wells, be
conducted under the supervision of the EHD. After the nature and lateral and
vertical extent of contamination are known, a remedial action plan for the site
can be developed and implemented.
SGD is prepared to meet with Color Spot, Inc. and appropriate
regulatory agency personnel to discuss the results, conclusions, and recommenda-
tions of this report. We are prepared to assist Color Spot, Inc. with the
. implementation of the recommendations included herein.
This report has been prepared for the exclusive use of Color Spot,
` Inc. with specific application to the UST removal at the Color Spot Lodi, Inc.
property. The project was conducted in accordance with generally accepted
environmental protocols. No other warranty, express or implied, is made.
