If an
additional work plan is necessary, additional charge for the work plan preparation
will be incurred.
► Adequate work space and access will be provided. Kleinfelder will attempt to
advance soil borings at the proposed locations. If the drilling equipment cannot be
positioned, alternative drilling locations or sampling methods should be
investigated.
► The borings are to be drilled with a truck mounted drill rig equipped with
hollow-stem augers. If concrete cutting is required, additional costs may be
incurred.
► Kleinfelder intends to drill the soil borings on the lawn of the Courthouse Annex
and the drill rig should not have to be positioned on the sidewalk or street.
Therefore, City easement permits are not includin his proposal. `J
► San Joaquin County will confirm that tCae
gal n diesel tank is empty. k
► The borings will be drilled on the gradrill rig will need to drive on and q°g
park on the grass. Kleinfelder will not be responsible for repairing the lawn or
sprinkler system if damaged.
► Soil generated during the drilling and sampling will be the responsibility of San
Joaquin County. Soil cuttings will be contained in 55-ailon drums and left on site.
Kleinfelder can move the drums to an on-site location selected by San Joaquin
County. Sampling and analysis of the containerized soil may be necessary prior to
disposal. The cost estimate of $7,300 is based on six soil samples submitted for the
described analyses. If additional analysis of soil samples is requested or required,
additional costs will be incurred. Disposal options for the soil can be assessed once
analytical results have been received. Kleinfelder can assist San Joaquin County
with the disposal of soil if necessary.
► This proposal is based on the presumption that San Joaquin County will provide any
and all available survey maps or other data to determine the location of tanks,
existing structures, underground utilities and services. San Joaquin County should
be aware that penetrating the site's surface is inherently risky. It is impossible to
determine with certainty the precise location of all structures which may be buried
in the ground. Kleinfelder's fee is not adequate to compensate for both the
performance of the services and the assumption of risk of damage to such structures.
Disruption of utilities or damage to underground structures will be the responsibility
of San Joaquin County. Services rendered by Kleinfelder to repair them will be
billed at cost. Underground Services Alert (USA) at 1-800-642-2444 provides a
partial location service free of charge for major utility lines. Kleinfelder can make
contact with USA for a site visit, if requested. Kleinfelder can arrange a geophysical
survey for underground obstructions (estimated fee, $1,200) if San Joaquin County
wishes to reduce their risk.
FP3-92.35 Page 5 of 6
Copyright 1992 Kleinfelder, Inc.
