Project No. 076-97005
Page No.3
collected from beneath the northern and southern ends of each gasoline UST. Refer to Figure No. 2 for
soil sample locations.
Subsequent to the removal of the USTs, the product pipelines associated with the fuel oil USTs
were excavated and removed. The product pipelines appeared rusted. As directed by Mr. Trevena,
Krazan's representative collected three soil samples (P-1 through P-3) from beneath the product
pipelines on April 10, 1998. Soil samples were collected from a depth of 1.5 to 2.0 feet below the
product lines. Refer to Figure No. 2 for soil sample locations. Krazan representatives also collected
r
three soil samples from the stockpiled soil removed from the excavation(SP-1 through SP-3), as directed
by Mr. Trevena.
Following sample collection, the ends of each sample sleeve were covered by Teflon film and
sealed with tight fitting plastic caps secured by inert tape. The sample sleeves were labeled and placed in
a cooler chest, which contained synthetic ice cooled to approximately 4 degrees Celsius (4°C). Samples
were then transported under Chain-of-Custody protocol to a State-certified analytical laboratory for
` analysis. As directed by Mr. Trevena, the soil samples collected from beneath the USTs, product
pipelines, and the stockpile were submitted for analysis of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes
(BTEX) by EPA Method 8020, and total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-D) by EPA Method
8015M. The results of the chemical analyses associated with the petroleum hydrocarbon constituents
` (PHCs) are summarized in Table II. Copies of the Certified Analytical Results and Chain-of-Custody
records are provided in Appendix A.
TABLE H
Soil Sample Analytical Results
Hutchins Street Square
125 South Hutchins Street
_ Lodi, California
April 10, 1998 Sampling
(Concentrations are expressed as milligrams per kilogram, mg/kg)
Sample ID Depth I Benzene Toluene Ethylbenzene Xylenes TPH-D
A-1 13 ND ND ND ND 1.2
A-2 13 ND ND ND ND ND
B-1 11 ND ND ND ND 1.8
B-2 11 ND ND ND ND 1.8
P-1 3 ND ND ND ND ND
P-2 3 ND ND ND ND ND
P-3 3 ND ND ND ND ND
SP-1 NA ND ND ND ND ND
SP-2 NA ND ND ND ND 1.3
SP-3 NA ND ND ND ND ND
KRAZAN&ASSOCIATES,INC.
Offices Serving the Western United States
7697005.TR
V
