I am reaching out to you on behalf of
my customer Pilot Oil.
An "open top" variant of our B-830 series containment sump was selected due to the engineers ability to
specify exact dimensions of the product. We also believe it is the most viable choice due to the unfailing history
of our DoubleWall sumps in California, the strength of our sump wall construction, wide range of fuel
compatibility, UL Listed materials that match the tank spec UL-1316 and qualifying 30 year warranty with no
fine print poised to void said warranty.
The question of whether or not this product is UL Listed came up, and I must state that it is not directly
registered with UL as an 830 series sump. The 830 series is based on our established and UL Listed
DoubleWall B400 sump line, and so it is merely marketed under a different series code. Further, since there
are no functional differences between the 800 and 400 series -- except a 4-wall configuration — many
regulatory authorities, specifying engineers and end users have approved these models for use in their
facilities without the need for UL listing or even Third Party Approval due to the reputation of our brand.
We have had a Third Party Approval drafted (attached), and ask if the SJC EHD would approve and permit this
sump to be installed in this special application for our customer. If so, we would stay in the loop throughout
installation to ensure that the product is properly installed by a Bravo-Certified contractor and that it is installed
in a way that meets both our Zero-Leak standard and policy of environmental responsibility.
Attachments for your review:
➢ B830 Commercial DoubleWall Transition Sump Datasheet
➢ Third Party Approval letter for the B830 series
Fuel Compatibility Letter
5
