7. Caltrans will request written concurrence from the Local Health
District that the SPRR tank site has been adequately
decontaminated.
8. Caltrans intends to complete final cleanup activities as
early next week as possible.
Caltrans is in no way accepting any responsibility for the
hazardous waste cleanup at the Southern Pacific Railroad tank site.
Caltrans participation in the investigation/cleanup of the SPRR tank
site has been only to facilitate the Crosstown Freeway Construction
schedule. Caltrans will notify Southern Pacific Transportation
Company of all investigation and cleanup activities at the tank site.
With completion of the above plan, Caltrans will have completed all
agreed upon actions at the SPRR tank site and has no further
obligations there. Any followup regulatory requirements should be
directed to the Southern Pacific Transportation Company.
Very truly yours,
Preston Kelly,
District Director
DTS
cc: Sordon Boggs,
Regional Water Quality
Control Board
in concurrence: _: _r-------------
Environmental Health Division
San Joaquin County Local Health District
