All work was done in
accordance with the requirements of the Ban Joaquin Environmental
Health Division of the Local Health District and the Regional Water
Quality Control Board. The procedures were previously agreed to and
inspected by the Local Health District during the actual work phase.
With the submission of this report and the previous completion of work
described therein, Caltrans has completed all obligations previously
agreed to. Caltrans has never accepted any responsibility for the
investigation and cleanup of hazardous waste at the diesel tank site.
Caltrans participation in investigation and cleanup work has been
based solely on the need to facilitate the Crosstown Freeway
Construction schedule. The Southern Pacific Transportation Company
will be notified shortly of all investigation and cleanup activities
at the tank site. Any followup regulatory requirements should be
directed to Southern Pacific Transportation Company.
Please indicate your concurrence with the adequacy of this report and
completion of all required work in writing at your earliest
convenience.
