PROVISIONS <br /> Description of Work: The work, in general , shall consist of removing and <br /> properly disposing of one underground 10,000 gallon storage diesel fuel tank, <br /> retrograde product in the tank,. shed, all concrete, concrete island, pumps ,. <br /> piping, sump,. appurtenances, debris,, and. any possible contaminated soil . A <br /> sample of the product contained in the tank shall be- collected and analyzed. <br /> Prior to removal from the site, the product in the storage tank shall be. <br /> pumped out. to remove any residual product and disposed of in a manner recom- <br /> mended by the San Joaquin County Health Department (County) and- the District <br /> Hazardous Waste Coordinator. <br /> If the- County and the District Contract Administrator (Contract <br /> Administrator) determines that there is not contamination of- soils,' the <br /> Contractor shall backfill the excavation- area to the original ground per <br /> Section 10.06 of the- General Speci fi a at.i ons. <br /> Unless otherwise directed, the- concrete, shed, pumps, piping, sump, <br /> appurtenances, and debris shall be removed and disposed of in a disposal site _ <br /> facility accepting this material . The- underground storage tank shall be purged <br /> and disposed of- in accordance with regulatory requirements. <br /> Remove and dispose. of pole and drop line from the service point. <br /> If required by the, County and Contract. Administrator, water and/or soil <br /> samples shall be' collected and: analyzed for any possible contamination. The. <br /> Contractor shall submit- test results of samples taken and prepare a written <br /> site. investigation report and make recommendations to the Department of <br /> Transportation, District 10 Hazardous Waste Coordinator, Dale Steele, (209) <br /> 948-7865. <br /> If excavation of contaminated material is required, the Contractor- shall <br /> excavate to the depths directed by the Contract Administrator. Follow-up <br /> samples may be required by the County. Samples shall then be collected and <br /> analyzed for any further contamination and the. area backfilled. <br /> Fence: The- first order of work shall be constructing a six-foot minimum <br /> chain link fence around the perimeter of the work area a safe distance from the <br /> proposed tank removal and excavation area on all four sides. Care shall be <br /> taken not to interfere with Railroad track spur access. <br /> Fence material shall be the Contractor's property and may consist of used <br /> or salvaged material in good condition for the remainder of the work. Fence <br /> construction shall be done to the satisfaction of the Contract Administrator. <br /> Excavation: If the County or the Contract Administrator requires any <br /> excavation of material immediately underneath the tank due to leakage, the <br /> Contractor shall remove and dispose of that material in a manner recommended <br /> by the County. The amount of material excavated by the Contractor shall be <br /> included in the contract bid price for tank removal. <br />
