19
Interconnecting Containment Sumps
After a GeoFleX Pipe section has been coupled, take the pipe section to the
trench and insert Into the containment sump through the Flexible Entry Boot.
Make sure the band clamp of the Entry Boot has been removed or sufficiently
loosened to permit the pipe to pass through the rubber boot. Be sure to
tighten the band clamp of the Entry Boots after the installation process has
been completed.
Note: Prior to connecting the Pipe Coupling to the Pipe Fitting make sure of
the following: (1) the Test Boots have been installed to the end of the pipe
section (See the Installation instructions below.)
Sump
Rog
Installing Crossover Supports
Crossover Supports should be used at all flexible piping crossovers and
installed over the flexible piping at any rigid piping or conduit crossovers.
These two piece supports are installed to both the upper and lower flexible
pipe sections. They must be installed before backfill begins. They are
designed to provide a flat crossover surface for the upper pipe and also
allow for even backfill compaction around both flexible pipes.
To install, align upper and lower support as shown in illustration and fasten
together using the supplied clips. Be certain not to scratch piping while
installing clips.
Installing Test Boots
For GBOF/ex Piping installations the Test Boots must be Installed to the ends
of each flexible pipe section In order to provide a means of air pressure
Integrity testing the Interstitial space of the flexible pipe. After all pipe
sections have been inserted into the containment sumps and before Pipe
Couplings are connected to the Pipe Fittings or Pipe Adapters, the Test
Boots should be installed. The Test Boot has an outlet opening located on
the bottom for connection of the Connector Tubes and Test Tubes which are
used for performing an air pressure integrity test as described on page 22 of
this product manual.
Step #1
Remove both band clamps from the Test Boot
before installing the rubber boot over the and of
the coupled flexible pipe section.
(2) If pipe crossovers are to be Included in the piping layout, the Installation
of the Crossover Supports should be made at this time. (See the Installation
instructions below.) (3) Read the "Pipe Coupling Connection" Instructions
carefully on the following page before any coupling to fitting or adapter
connections are made.
After one end of the flexible pipe section has been connected to a
containment sump take the other and of the pipe section to the next
containment sump in series and repeat the same connection procedure.
After both ends of a flexible pipe section have been connected to the
containment sumps, inspect the length of pipe between containment sumps
to make sure it is positioned property in the trench.
Sump
After integrity testing has been completed, the Test Boots can remain
Interconnected If product flow Is desired to run to the tank Sump. If product
flow is desired in all sumps then one end of the Connector Tube In each
)unction type Dispenser Sump should be disconnected from the Test Boot to
permit the Interstitial space of the GeoF/ex Piping to draln into the
containment sump. Comply with the following three step installation
procedures for proper installation of the Test Boots.
Step #2
From Inside the containment sump install the
Test Boot over the installed Pipe Coupling.
Step #3
Center the Test Boot over the end of the outer
containment jacket with the small outlet facing
downward. Then install and tighten band clamps.
