This cutting tool is
designed specifically to cut the flexible piping to
length. Make sure the cuts are clean and even
before Installing the Couplings.
Coupling Machines
The GeoFlex Piping System requires the use of
the Environ Coupling Machine for proper
installation of the Pipe Coupling. Coupling
Machines are available in both 110 and 220 volt
models. Consult your local Environ Distributor for
the availability for rental or purchase of these
Coupling Machines.
The following three step installation procedure for
coupling the flexible pipe is only a general
Installation guide. Detailed coupling procedures
and machine operating and maintenance
Instructions are contained within the Coupling
Machine Product Manual.
Cutting Flexible Pipe
Stripping Containment Jacket
In order to install the Pipe Coupling to the
and of the GeoFlex Pipe section it
is necessary to strip off a 2' (50mm)
section of the outer stand-off
containment jacket. Using the Jacket
Cutter tool, open the cutter and insert the
flexible pipe until the end meets the 'stop
lip- at the middle of the cutter. Close the
cutter and turn counter -clockwise one
complete revolution. This procedure will
make a radial cut on the jacket. Open
the Jacket Cutter and remove the pipe.
Reinsert it into the opposite and of the
cutter, close and pull the cutter off the
and of the pipe. This procedure will
make the longitudinal cut on the jacket.
Next remove the 2' (50mm) jacket
section.
Coupling Flaxidle Pipe
wkl.a
Important
Use only Environ coupling equipment
and couplings to couple the ends of the
GeoFlex Piping.
Caution
Make sure the "Vent Screw" Is open
before operating coupling machine to
avoid damaging the pump. Close the
"Vent Screw" prior to transporting the
machine.
Step #1
Unscrew and remove the 'tapered $wedge' from
the threaded drive shaft of the coupling machine.
Insert the Pipe Coupling Assembly over the 'drive
shaft' and push against the 1-1/2' adapter, as
illustrated.
Step #2
Thread the "tapered swedge' onto the drive shaft
until It meets the back of the Pipe Coupling
Assembly. Lubricate the outside of the swedge
using metal lubricating oil. Do not use silicone
based lubricants. Be sure that the swivel nut is
flush against the 1-1/2' adapter.
Step #3
Insert end of the flexible pipe section inside the
Pipe Coupling until only 1/16"-1/8' of the primary
pipe is exposed. Be sure that the ferrule is fully
engaged on the Pipe Coupling Insert. To operate
the machine, press the start button and hold until
the tapered swedge has passed through the Pipe
Coupling Assembly. Reinsert the thread
protector into the Pipe Coupling.
U
