May 18, 1988
Page 4
2. Purging Procedure
Prior to groundwater sampling, the well will be checked for floating
product, sheen and odor using a clean, clear acrylic bailer. If there is
no measurable amount of floating product, the well will be sampled. Prior
to sampling, the well will be purged of a minimum four casing volumes (or
until dryness) using a previously cleaned centrifugal pump or a
submersible bladder pump constructed of stainless steel and Teflon
materials. All purged groundwater will be stored in 55 gallon drums until
analytical results dictate the proper disposal method.
3. Sample Collection Procedure
After the purging, the water sample will be collected and placed into the
appropriate EPA-approved containers.
4. Chain of Custody
The water samples collected will be labeled, logged onto chain-of-custody
documents, and placed on ice for transport to the laboratory.
IV. RESULTS
A. Laboratory Analysis
1. Laboratory Used
All groundwater and selected soil samples collected will be analyzed by
IT Corporation of Santa Clara, California, a California State-certified
Laboratory.
2. Analysis
Selected soil samples will be analyzed for low boiling hydrocarbons
(calculated as gasoline), as well as benzene, toluene, and xylenes (BTX
compounds). Groundwater samples will also be analyzed for the presence of
low boiling hydrocarbons and BTX compounds. The method of analysis of low
boiling hydrocarbons is taken from EPA methods 8015, 8020, and 5030. In
addition, the selected soil sample(s) from the boring/well located west of
the former fuel and waste oil tanks will be analyzed for high boiling
hydrocarbons (EPA methods 8010 and 8020). Groundwater (i£ appropriate)
from the same location will also be analyzed for these parameters.
3. Soil and Groundwater Analytical Results
Soil and groundwater (if appropriate) results will be presented in tabular
form.
