1.0 Introduction <br /> 1.1 Site Description <br /> The Pacific Bell fleet facility is located at 4051 Newton Road in Stockton, California (Figures <br /> 1 and 2). The area surrounding the site consists of residential and agricultural properties. <br /> The site is situated at approximately 28 feet above mean sea level (U.S.G.S. 7.5' topographic <br /> sheet - Stockton West - dated 1968). The Oakmore golf course is situated approximately 0.55 <br /> miles to the west. <br /> ' The nearest surface bodies of water are the Calaveras River (approximately 0.45 miles north) <br /> and the Stockton diverting channel (approximately 0.70 miles south of the site). Regional <br /> ' groundwater flow is assumed to be southwesterly based on regional topography. <br /> 1.2 Objectives <br /> ' IT Corporation (IT) was contracted by Pacific Bell to provide environmental consulting <br /> services for the removal and disposal of one 10,000-gallon unleaded gasoline fiberglass <br /> underground storage tank (UST), located beneath the parking lot of their facility in Stockton, <br /> California. A new 10,000 gallon double walled steel UST was installed in the open <br /> excavation as part of the emergency power system. <br /> 1.3 Permits <br /> Permits for tank removal were obtained by Robert H. Lee and Associates, from the Stockton <br /> Fire Prevention Department prior to initiating tank removal activities. A copy of the tank <br /> removal permit is enclosed as Appendix A of this report. A representative of the Stockton <br /> Fire Prevention Department (Steve Dalton) was notified of and observed the tank removal. <br /> ' Jerry Yoshioka of the San Joaquin County of Environmental Health Division also observed <br /> the tank removal. <br /> 2.0 Field Activities <br /> 2.1 Tank Removal and Reinstallation <br /> Representatives of Aronson Engineering Incorporated began excavation activities on March <br /> 13, 1995, with the disconnection of the piping and removal of the dispenser and the concrete <br /> and soil above the tanks. Soil above the tank (approximately 200 yd 3) was removed and <br /> stockpiled on visqueen. The concrete rubble was stored separately. The tank's contents <br /> MD04-11-95/UST/95-0102.NBR 1 <br />
