The Golden Rule: LIFT WITH YOUR LEGS NOT YOUR BACK! <br /> i2. Know your limits, don't lift more than you can handle. <br /> 3. Use a firm grip with your whole hand, not just your fingers. Secure <br /> i a solid footing with your feet a comfortable distance apart. Bend <br /> your knees and keep your back straight and lift using your leg <br /> muscles. <br /> i4. In most instances you may be handling rough materials, use gloves. <br /> i 11 . 11 TOOLS <br /> 1 . No tool shall be used that is defective or broken. <br /> i2. All tools shall be kept clean and in good condition. <br /> 3. Any cable or pipe choker that is frayed or worn shall not be used. <br /> 4. Any chain that shows signs of the links being stretched shall not be <br /> used. <br /> i 5. Any tool with a wooden handle such as a shovel or hammer with a <br /> broken or splintered handle shall not be used. <br /> i11 . 12 HOUSEKEEPING <br /> 1 . Keep and maintain as clean a work area os is reasonably possible. <br /> i 2.
