• 95.11.01 <br /> ' SAMPLING PROCEDURES AND ANALYTICAL RESULTS <br /> On May 1995, following the removal of the USTs, Mr. Michael Kith of the PHS- <br /> ' EHD specified that confirmatory soil samples would be required to be collected from <br /> beneath the former UST locations, beneath the former dispensers and dispenser piping <br /> locations. A concrete support structure was present directly beneath the former UST <br /> locations. Following the removal of this structure, Mr. Kith directed MSI to collect samples <br /> from directly beneath and at each end of this structure, beneath-adjacent to the former UST <br /> location. Additionally, Mr. Kith directed MSI to collect three, 2-part composite soil samples <br /> ' from the stockpiled soils to complete a chemical profile for these soils. The data from these <br /> analyses may be used to obtain acceptance of these soils to a recycling/disposal facility. <br /> ' Therefore, to comply with these requests soil sample S-1 was collected from directly <br /> beneath the former T-1 location at a depth of 8.5 feet BSG. Samples S-1 thru S-7 were all <br /> collected from approximately two feet beneath the former T-2, T-3 and T-4 locations at a <br /> ' depth of 10.5 feet BSG. As directed by Mr. Kith, three 2-part composite soil samples, SP- <br /> 1, A&B and SP-2 A&B, C&D collected from the excavated-stockpiled soils. The areal <br /> locations of the soil samples are presented on the attached map. <br /> ' The soil samples in the UST excavation (S-1 thru S-7) were collected from the <br /> backhoe bucket. Soil samples S-8 thru S-15 were collected using a core barrel of a hand <br /> auger soil sampling device equipped with 6-inch long by 2-inch diameter brass sleeves. All <br /> samples were capped with Teflon film and plastic fittings, to insure an airtight seal; and <br /> clearly identified and labeled as to their location and contents prior to shipment. The <br /> samples were packed into a clean ice chest and maintained at a cool temperature, using pre- <br /> frozen chemical ice, for shipment to the laboratory. <br /> Chain-of-custody procedures, described in Test Methods for Evaluating Solid Waste, <br /> SW-846, USEPA,Third Edition, 1986,were followed. All of the soil samples were obtained <br /> ' by Mr. William Sheehe, associate geologist of MSI. On 17 May 1995, the soil samples were <br /> delivered to Pan-Ag Environmental laboratory personnel by MSI's geologist. A copy of the <br /> chain-of-custody documentation associated with the sampling, transport, and analyses of the <br /> ' soil samples obtained is attached. The results of the confirmatory soil sample analyses are <br /> presented in Table Nos. 1 & 2, on the following page. These chemical analyses were <br /> conducted to meet the published requirements of the PHS-EHD. <br /> ' The intention of San Joaquin Delta College to manifest and transport the stockpiled <br /> soils(from Stockpile No. 2)to Forward Landfill in Manteca, California for recycling/disposal <br /> ' will be subject to the approval of PHS-EHD. The loading of the stockpiled soils and <br /> transportation of the soils to Forward is currently pending the completion of a chemical <br /> profile for acceptance to this facility. All laboratory reports of analytical results of the <br /> ' additional samples, if necessary, collected from SP-2, if necessary,will be submitted to PHS- <br /> EHD under separate cover. Similarly, the uniform hazardous waste manifest, showing <br /> acceptance to the Forward, Inc. landfill in Manteca, California will be presented under <br /> separate cover to PHS-EHD. <br /> • <br /> ' 3 <br /> ' MOORE SERVICES, INC. <br />
