Kludt and Sons, 1126 East Pine Street
Lodi, CA
Gentlemen.
Corrpro Companies has completed the design, materials supply and initial testing of the cathodic
protectlon system for the two steel underground fuel storage tanks (UST's) at the subject site.
The work was completed to comply with the EPA 1998 requirements for UST external corrosion
control, In brief the survey results indicate that the new cathodic protection system is fully
operational and that the subjoct UST's comply with industry criterion which satisfies EPA
requirements for external corrosion control, The survey results are discussed in detail in this
rc unt.
The subject location has two steel tanks, and fiberglass product piping, therefore the only LPA
requirement for corrosion protection is to provide cathodic protection to the tanks. Corrpro
Companies designed a galvanic anode cathodic protection system comprising nine (9), 201b
magnesium alloy anodes.
A structure=to-soil potential survey using local reference cell locations was completed at the
subject facility. StructuFe'40-soil potentials Were taken using the DC voltmeter circuit of a
high -impedance digital multimeter and a portable copper -capper sulfate reference electrode.
Potentials were recorded prior to system energizing (Static Potential) and repeated with the
cathodic protection system's anodes connected and again while momentarily disconnected.
An initial post -installation survey was carried out on 2/10/99, where it was found that the tanks
were electrically short circuited to electrical ground and to other structures by the steel UST vent
piping and also by electrical conduits from the turbines on each tank to the building.
Subsequently the turbines were electrically isolated from the tanks using dielectric insulating
iirmges on the turbine risers. The UST vents were electrically isolated from the steel -sided
building. A second site survey was carried out on 3/5/99 after the tank electrical isolation work
haJ been completed.
Nal MO.
11m;oa
I CYmolund
Bang Hong
Wine
RUdwk,
ansoam•
Dchal
Housim
MVAan9
Oman Cl y
San k;eKiSm
Glaulnm on law
+Mvmaq lu
AuvaB
n"'olt/
oMhnn
Hpoolm
Lag%nr akl9
AnGel
J
Milwaukee
Nhn
Penh
son Diego
Syil:no
Ifuly T,.
Goc,nu
<:Inc,gP
Edmouwn
F301;lun
J:Ikata
MrduYsla
O'lool'
Now Odoano
i
PPhotiix
<ran,
saauk
nm:nat
Mono
Wlieurna,
New Mk
P -=di^^
5m9•Nore
Ingvo
Puha
Wq.,ylrrglcn, pC
