MAR -30-99 TUE 0629 PM 06RO COMPANIES INC FAX N0, 5104J1 3698 P. 02/07
The final survey was conducted on March 5, 1999 (see Attachment 1, Cathodic Protection
Potential Data) to determine if the cathodic protection system meets the National Association of
Corrosion Engineers International (NAGE) criteria for cathodic protection (see Attachment 2,
N.ACE- RP0285-95 criteria). The recorded structure -to -soil potentials for the piping were found
to meet the accepted NACE criteria (100 mVolt Polarization) for cathodic protection and thereby
meet the EPA mquirements for extemal corrosion control. In addition it is expected that the tank
potentials will continue to polarize (become more negative) with time, as the cathodic protection
system continues to operate, No further work is required at this time.
It is recommended that the following issues be addressed
• E.F. Kludt to ensure the steel vent pipes are permanently electrically isolated from the
building,
• Authorize Corrpro to carry out the federally (EPA) mandated 6 -month retest of the cathodic
protection system. Carrpro can carry out this re -test (including issue of a letter report) at a
cost of $600.00 in September 1999.
• Authorize Corrpro to conduct a cathodic protection system re -survey on at least a three-year
basis, as required by the EPA. However, Corrpro recommends that the re -survey be carried
out on an annual basis, Cost for Corrpro to carry out this annual retest and to prepare a letter
report will be $600.00 for the year 2000 survey,
Thank you for this opportunity to serve you. If you have any questions or if we may be of
additional assistance, please do not hesitate to call us at (510) 614-8800.
Vury truly yours,
CORRPRQ COMPANIES, INC.
r'Y
Tim Oakley
[AT Coordinator
R71ts/C; A-lteporV575-0727/0727.xls
Crich: Data Sheet & Invoice,
