5ECTION 3 ♦ Containment Crossover Detail 2.2.4 Fitting Assembly All containment fittings consist of two halves with flanges as shown in Fig. 2.2.3. The bottom half has threaded in- serts for ease of assembly. Apply adhesive to both halves and to pipe (1,16" min. thickness) Pipe must fit snugly into fitting socket so that no gap exists FIGURE 2.2.5 TABLE 2.3.1 Containment Crossover Information These fittings are assembled with adhesive and Y,-20 wash- er -head bolts that are furnished with the fittings. The re- quired bolts are supplied in small plastic bags. If extra bolts are required, they can be purchased from your dis- tributor. Or, you can use standard %-20 x 1" long hex head bolts. If you use standard bolts, place a flat washer on the bolt before torquing. The bonding surfaces of the containment fittings are sup- plied from the factory pre -sanded. Two-piece secondary containment fittings must be joined using a greater amount of adhesive than is necessary for joining bell and spigot joints of product piping (see Fig. 2.2.5). SECTION 3 • CONTAINMENT CROSSOVER DETAIL 2.3.1 Preparation When installing a secondary containment system from Smith Fiberglass Products, some preparation is necessary if the closest possible separation of lines is required.
