. Nft.#
3. SCOPE OF ADDDITIONAL WORK
EA and Chevron propose that the previous work plan, approved as part of the permit to
install six monitoring wells,be ammended to include the following:
1. two additional monitoring wells installed on-site to establish the extent of
contamination and a"zero line" of contamination
2. two additional monitoring wells installed offsite: one in El Dorado Street and one in
Harding Way;monitoring wells MW2,MWS, and MW6 were installed close to the
perimeter of the site, respecting a 10 foot set-back from the sidewalks and sewer
lines;this leaves little room on-site to establish a "zero line'of contamination on-
site along the eastern and southern perimeters
3. five vapor extraction wells installed around monitoring wells MW3 and MW4 and
the former tank field; the wells will be completed with the necessary equipment to
be used as a functioning part of a potential vapor extraction and treatment system
(VETS)
4, the soils sampled as the soil borings are drilled; the samples will be analyzed for
petroleum hydrocarbons at Pace Laboratories
5. the new wells developed and ground water in each of the ten wells sampled and
analyzed at Pace Laboratories
6. a final report including a proposal for soil and ground-water remediation will be
prepared according to the format proposed by Gordon Boggs of the Regional Water
Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region.
4. TECHNICAL APPROACH
4.1 INSTALLATION OF GROUND-WATER MONITORING WELLS
EA proposes to install four ground-water monitoring wells at the locations indicated on
Figure 3. These wells will be installed to further assess the extent of petroleum
7
