Stantec
Quarterly Status Summary Report-Second Quarter 2012
ARCO Service Station No 4932
August 7, 2012
The wells located at the former Stockton State Hospital (Wells 2-5) and located 1,500 to 1,800 ft
east of the site, were also previously identified by SECOR in both the 2000 and 2001 well
searches. The site of the wells, located at 1414 N. California St., is now occupied by an
outpatient clinic of San Joaquin General Hospital. On February 9, 2012 Stantec contacted San
Joaquin General Hospital; however no further information as to the status of these wells could
be obtained.
On February 3, 2012, Stantec contacted John Stagg, who serves as the Assistant Chief of the
maintenance department of St. Joseph's Medical Center, to further inquire about the status of
Wells 2-5. Mr. Stagg stated that he did not have any information as to the status of wells.
However, Mr. Stagg identified two wells located at McCloud Ave. and Cemetery Ln.,
approximately 2,000 ft. east of the site. He confirmed that these wells (Wells 12-13) are
currently inactive.
According to a well completion report, the domestic well (Well 6) located approximately 2,000 ft
southeast of the site was destroyed in September 1993. The remaining wells include two
domestic wells (Wells 7 & 9) located approximately 1,400 ft south and 2,000 ft west respectively
and an unidentified well (Well 10) located approximately 1,200 ft north. Information as to the
status of these wells could not be obtained.
A survey of nearby areas located five sensitive receptors within 2,000 ft of the site. EI Dorado
Elementary School is located 850 ft west of the site and Annunciation School is located 1,500 ft
southwest of the site. St. Joseph's Medical Center is located 1,100 ft northeast of the site, and
Dameron Hospital is located 2,000 ft southwest of the site. In addition, Eden Square park is
located 1,400 ft southeast of the site.
Groundwater flow direction at the site is primarily to the northeast. The two inactive municipal
wells (Well 8 & 11) are located cross-gradient of the site. EI Dorado Elementary School,
Annunciation School, and Dameron Hospital are located up-gradient of the site and Eden Square
park is located cross-gradient. Yosemite Lake, located approximately 3,300 ft to the west of the
site, is also up-gradient. St. Joseph's Medical Center is located down-gradient of the site,
however, no active wells were identified at that location.
Monitoring and Sampling
The site is sampled semiannually during 1Q and 3Q. No groundwater monitoring or sampling
was conducted during 2Q12.
Current Assessment Activities
No assessment activities were conducted during 2Q12.
Remediation Status
An off-site ozone sparge (OS) system was installed in July 2005. The OS system consists of a
Calcon HiPro 500 ozone generator that generates up to 0.5 pounds per day of ozone. The
system was connected to sparge wells S-1 through S-6. The OS system has been shut down
since September 8, 2011 due to a malfunctioning touch screen. Calcon was contacted and
troubleshooting the problem was performed; however, the touch screen could not be repaired.
4932 QSSR 2Q12.doc 3
