Stantec
Quarterly Status Summary Report-Second Quarter 2012
ARCO Service Station No. 4932
August 7, 2012
DMW-10), there is now a new zone between the A zone and the B zone which is referred to as
the B' zone. No changes have been made to the site history and previous investigations since
the report submittal of Semiannual Groundwater Monitoring Report (SMR) First Quarter 2012
(1Q12) dated July 9, 2012.
Sensitive Receptors
In 2000, SECOR International Incorporated (SECOR, now Stantec) performed a water well
survey to identify the location of permitted water supply wells within a '/2 mile radius of the site.
The water well survey consisted of review of the California Department of Water Resources
(DWR) files for the area. Additionally, SECOR contacted the City of Stockton and California
Water Company, which are the local water purveyors. Ed Simonis, field station manager with
City of Stockton-Water Department, and Eric Mar, facilities manager with California Water
Company, both indicated that no municipal wells were operated within 1/2 mile of the site. The
closest wells identified from the DWR file review are wells located approximately 1/2 mile east of
the site at the former Stockton State Hospital. Results of the well survey are included in
SECOR's report titled Site Assessment Report, dated November 6, 2000
In 2001, SECOR conducted an additional door-to-door survey of businesses and residences in
the area to identify any water supply wells within a 500-foot radius of the site. A questionnaire
was supplied to those businesses or residences that could not be contacted first hand. Based
on review of verbal and written survey results returned to SECOR, there were no water supply
wells confirmed within a 500-foot radius of the site. According to the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD), in a letter dated November 21, 2000, two water
supply wells were documented near the site. One water supply well was located in a field
approximately 1/2-mile east of the site at the former Stockton State Hospital and the other water
supply well was located approximately 2,000 ft northwest of the site at the intersection of
Wyandotte and Commerce Streets. Results of the well survey are included in SECOR's report
titled Additional Site Assessment Report, dated November 9, 2001.
Stantec conducted an updated SRS in January 2012. Stantec reviewed well completion reports
provided by the DWR and the California Water Service Company's (CWSC) 2010 Urban Water
Management Plan, Stockton District, adopted June 2011. Well completion reports indicated two
municipal wells, one irrigation well, one industrial well, one well which had been purposed for a
former cooling system, and three domestic wells located within 2,000 ft of the site. Well
completion reports also identified three additional wells within 2,000 ft radius of the site;
however, information on the usage of these wells could not be obtained.
The municipal well located 1,400 ft northwest of the site (Well 11) was the same well previously
identified by SECOR in the 2001 well search. Stantec contacted CWSC to determine the status
of the well. In a telephone conversation on January 24, 2012, CWSC confirmed that the well is
inactive. The municipal well located 1,800 ft southeast of the site (Well 8) was also confirmed to
be inactive, and CWSC verified that no other municipal wells are located within 2,000 ft of the
site.
The industrial well (Well 1) located approximately 2,000 ft east of the site was previously
identified by SECOR in both the 2000 and 2001 well searches. No information as to the status
of this well could be obtained.
4932 QSSR 2Q12.doc 2
