Atlantic Richfield Company • • 3 <br /> ARCO Service Station#4932,16 E Harding Blvd,Stockton CA January 5,2001 <br /> • Response" guidelines (CCR Title 8, Section 5192), SECOR has <br /> prepared a Site-Specific Health and Safety Plan prior to the <br /> commencement of fieldwork The Site-Specific Health and Safety <br /> Plan will be reviewed by the field staff and contractors before <br /> beginning field operations at the site and is included as Attachment B <br /> • Soil Borings. Two soil borings will be drilled at the locations shown <br /> on Figure 2 using 8-inch diameter hollow-stem augers The soil <br /> borings will be drilled to a total depth of 80 feet bgs and will be <br /> continuously logged from 20 feet bgs to the total depth of the borings <br /> Depth discrete soil and water samples will be collected at 40 feet bgs, <br /> 60 feet bgs, and 80 feet bgs using a Simulprobe or similar type <br /> sampling device Additional soil and water samples may be collected <br /> depending on the lithology encountered Upon completion of drilling, <br /> the borings will be backfilled with cement grout from the bottom of <br /> the borings to the surface The need for future deep, discretely <br /> screened monitoring wells will be evaluated based on the results of the <br /> Simulprobe samples <br /> • Groundwater Monitoring Wells. Five groundwater monitoring <br /> wells will be installed at the locations shown on Figure 2 The wells <br /> will be drilled to a depth of approximately 40 feet bgs using 8-inch <br /> diameter hollow-stem augers Groundwater is anticipated to be <br /> encountered at approximately 27 feet bgs The wells will be <br /> constructed of 2-inch diameter schedule 40 PVC pipe and will be <br /> screened from approximately 20 to 40 feet bgs <br /> • Permitting The applicable permits for groundwater monitoring <br /> wells will be obtained from the SJCEHD, encroachment permits <br /> from the City of Stockton, and access agreements of local property <br /> owners will be obtained prior to drilling <br /> • Soil Selection and Analysis. Soil samples will be collected at 5-foot <br /> intervals and will be sent under chain-of-custody procedures to a <br /> California State-certified laboratory Selected soil samples will be <br /> analyzed for TPHg using modified EPA Method 8015, benzene, toluene, <br /> ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX) using EPA Method 8020, and oxygenates <br /> MtBE, D1PE, TAME, EtBE, TBA, 1,2 DCA, and EDB by EPA Method <br /> 8260 <br /> • Monitoring Well Development and Sampling. After installation, <br /> the monitoring wells will be developed by rigorously surging the <br /> well over the length of the screen interval and by purging <br /> approximately 10 casing volumes of water After well development, <br /> 077 43286 310/WPLAN3 doc <br />
