No.070021
Mr. Robert Brod
Hydt- Environmental, Inc.
20700 Watertown Road
Waukesha, WI 53186
Dear Mr. Brod:
Re: Letter Report,Shallow Soil Excavation,Soil Stockpile Disposal and Site Clean-Up Project,
John Deere Parts Depot 4104 South Aimort Way, Stockton C lliforni 1
Conestoga-Rovers& Associates (CRA) has prepared this letter report to provide a narrative
description of the field activities and to provide all related documentation of off-Site disposal of
impacted soils from the John Deere Parts Depot property in Stockton,California. All activities
completed as part of this project were in conformance with CRA's proposal to Hyde
Environmental, Inc. (HEI) dated February 11,2010(STK-10-00181) and with the HEI-CRA
subcontractor agreement.
Backgkgound
On September 24,2009, HEI completed a soil sampling program at the John Deere Parts Depot
located at the intersection of South Airport Way and Industrial Boulevard in Stockton,
California (Site- Figure 1). At the time, the Site contained a soil stockpile of approximately 25
cubic, yards(cu yds) situated near the northwestern corner of the Site. As part of their soil
sampling program, HEI collected soil samples from the stockpile and analyzed them for volatile
organic compounds. The analytical data indicated that the stockpiled soils contained relatively
low concentrations of methylene chloride. In order to prepare the Site for the pending sale, HEI
rcco_—ancnded removal of the stockpile.
During the soil sampling effort,HEI also identified an area with distressed vegetation and soil
staining along the western fence line. This area was delineated by HEI's soil sample locations
B-S, B-M and B-N and was approximately 400 feet in length. HEI recommended that the top two
to three inches of soil be removed in this western boundary area.
Employment ISQ 8001
OYDartwrty FmDlYYer ,_
Worldwide Eegineering, Environmental,Conatmetion,and IT Services
