H E
I PHASE I ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENT
4101 S. Airport Way, Stockton, CA
August 2009, Page 7 of 15
4.6 Aerial Photograph Review
Historical aerial photographs were obtained from EDR and bing.com,and were reviewed
for evidence of waste burial, storage of bulk petroleum or chemicals, and other potential
sources of contamination.The EDR photos were taken in 1957, 1963, 1970, 1982, 1993,
1998,2002 and 2005.The bing.com composite oblique photo was taken in 2009. Copies of
the photos are provided in Appendix B.
The 1957 photo shows the subject property at what appears to be near the end of building
construction. The facility is clearly depicted along with disturbed ground in the vicinity of
the septic leach field and around the building exterior. Vehicles appear to have been
parked haphazardly in what appear to be temporary parking areas. The rail spur on the
subject property was in its current configuration. The southeastern two-thirds of the
property and the western portion of the property were undeveloped and used for
agricultural activities. The photo does not show evidence of disturbed ground, tanks,
structures, or other discrete potential sources of contamination.
The 1963 photo clearly shows a completed building, access road and parking lot on the
subject property. The building was similar in size as the structure shown in the 1957 photo,
but the loading dock appears to have been completed. No equipment was stored outside of
the building. The photo does not show evidence of disturbed ground, tanks, structures, or
other discrete potential sources of contamination.
The 1970 photo provides a close-up view of the subject property and surrounding area.
The subject property does not appear to have changed significantly from 1963, except for
the addition of equipment stored in the parking area west of the building. The photo does
not show evidence of disturbed ground, tanks, structures,or other discrete potential
sources of contamination.
The 1982 aerial photo is less detailed but shows the building on the subject property to
have increased in size, including the warehouse to the north and a driveway in the
northeastern part of the facility. It appears that a stormwater detention pond was added
north of the facility between 1970 and 1982. The photo does not show evidence of
disturbed ground, tanks, structures,or other discrete potential sources of contamination.
The 1993, 1996,2002 and 2005 photos depict little change to the subject property. The
photos do not show evidence of disturbed ground, tanks, structures, or other discrete
potential sources of contamination.
The 2009 oblique aerial photo is a composite of photographs viewing the subject property
and western property boundary. Three areas of distressed vegetation and a soil pile are
shown with red arrows(Appendix B).These areas were not observed on the EDR photos
but the oblique aerial photo is of much high resolution than the EDR photos.
