Upon inspection, it appeared that the grated oil/water separator
drain was full so to relieve the flow of fluid the secondary drain/hole cover was
unscrewed and had oily fluids deposited into it. Cease disposal of any fluid into this
unknown drain/hole RvIIvfEDIATELY. Determine the exact disposition for this drain/hole
and the extent of fluids deposited into the drain/hole. Submit your findings to this
department by 5/10/06.
#10 Failed to determine if a waste is a hazardous waste
According to the Auto Body Manager, sanding waste has been disposed of in the
oil/water separator drains and in the garbage. Cease disposal of this waste stream or
assume this waste is hazardous until analytical results have been obtained. Begin this
practice IlVIl%4EDIATLEY. Repeat Violation
#12 Facility not maintained to minimize the release of a hazardous waste
• Upon inspection this day, it was noted that a transmission was placed on the
ground in the shop area next to the large truck bay. The transmission was leaking
fluids onto the ground and down the sidewalk towards the gutter. (See attached
photograph)None of the technicians were working in the immediate area. EHD
notified the technician of the incident and absorbent was placed on the spill to
prevent storm drain contamination.
• Spent absorbent was observed around the used oil tank in the service area
hazardous waste storage room.
R1311S ived By
