Special Requirements for Remote Afterloading Device Calibration and Spot Checks. <br /> (a) At intervals not to exceed daily or prior to use(if used less fi-equently),the following tests shall <br /> be performed: <br /> (1) Source position indicator(s). <br /> (2) Source positioning reproducibility, to within± 1 mm <br /> (3) Inspection of guide tubes for kinks and other imperfections. <br /> (b) At intervals not to exceed monthly or prior to use (if used less frequently), the following tests <br /> shall be perforated: <br /> (1) Accuracy of the timing device. <br /> (2) Source travel time error. <br /> (c) At installation and intervals not to exceed three months, (one month for Ir-192) thereafter, the <br /> licensee shall determine the dose accuracy to within±5 percent. <br /> 37. No remote afterloading device equipment operation authorized by this license shall be initiated unless the <br /> licensee has in his possession detailed written instructions specific for the make and model of the remote <br /> afterloading device equipment and for the type of operation involved. <br /> 38. The licensee shall not transfer any radioactive source or device containing a radioactive source, except in <br /> accordance with the transferee's radioactive material license as to kind and amount of radioactive material, <br /> manufacturer and model number of the radioactive source,and manufacturer and model number of the remote <br /> afterloading device. <br /> 39. Each remote afterloading device shall be inspected and serviced in accordance with the manufacturer's <br /> recommendations. <br /> 40. Installation, relocation, maintenance, and repair of devices containing radioactive material, and leak testing, <br /> replacement and disposal of sealed sources containing radioactive material used in devices shall be perforated <br /> only by persons specifically authorized to do so. <br /> 41. Upon initial source loading and/or subsequent to each source exchange, radiation surveys shall be performed <br /> prior to initial human use as follows: <br /> (a) A radiation survey shall be made of: <br /> (1) The unit source housing, with the source(s) in the shielded position. The maximum radiation <br /> levels at 20 centimeters from the surface of the source housing not exceed 3 milliroentgens per <br /> hour. <br />
