APPENDIX B <br />EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION/CAPABILITIES <br />SAFETY EQUIPMENT <br />♦ Personal Protective Equipment (safety glasses, ear plugs, face shields, <br />goggles, and gloves) are provided as necessary to Manufacturing personnel <br />at time of employment. Personnel maintain this equipment in assigned <br />lockers located in the hallway south of the Manufacturing Area. <br />* Face shields and goggles provide effective and adequate eye <br />protection from hazardous chemical splashes. These PPE are used <br />whenever handling or working in close vicinity of strong acids and <br />caustic (i.e., making up anodization baths) <br />• Safety glasses provide protection of eyes from other general hazards. <br />* Chemical resistant gloves provide protection of hands during both <br />routine handling of strong acids and caustic and emergency cleanup <br />procedures. <br />♦ Members of the Spill Cleanup Team (SCT) will be issued Chemical Resistant <br />Suits which are to be stored in the Anodization Lab Area. These suits should <br />be worn by cleanup personnel during hazardous cleanup procedures. <br />Chemical resistant suits will reduce the hazards encountered by <br />chemical cleanup personnel during cleanup procedures. <br />• Fire Extinguishers are available at locations shown on Map 1 of the HMMP. <br />This equipment is capable of extinguishing small localized fires. Assistance <br />must be summoned <br />♦ Safety Showers/Eve Wash Stations/First Aid Station are located throughout <br />the facility and are also shown on Map 1 of the HMMP. <br />♦ Emergency Communication Eauipment (telephone system, PA system, and <br />portable 2 -way radios) are the tools that will be used for communication <br />during an emergency. <br />• The plant telephone system is the primary means of communication <br />within and outside the facility. <br />+ The internal public address system is used to rapidly communicate <br />information within the facility. The PA system can be accessed by all <br />emergency response personnel. <br />+ The ERC's, ERT's, and the Evacuation Leader have a portable 2 -way <br />radio to maintain communication. A spare radio is located in the lobby. <br />
