30 May 2000
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0372
5.7. DECONTAMINATION
All Sampling equipment will be decontaminated prior to use by washing in an Alconox solution and
using three rinses with tap water. Glass and plastic sample containers will be precleaned by the
laboratory that supplies them. Brass sleeves utilized for soil samples will be clean new ones or
decontaminated as described for the sampling equipment. Rinsate water generated by the
decontamination process will be containerized in a DOT-approved 55-gallon drum, labeled, and
stored in an area lacking public access pending laboratory analysis of the collected samples and a
determination of the proper disposal method.
5.8. WASTE MANAGEMENT
Soil cuttings are not generated by advancing probe borings, but could be generated by hand-augering
if that technique must be utilized. Such cuttings will be containerized in a DOT-approved 55-gallon
drum, labeled with borings of origin, date and address, and will be stored in an area lacking public
access pending laboratory analysis of the soil samples and a determination of the proper disposal
method. Minimal excess soil is generated by geoprobe sampling, and consists mainly of soil sample
duplicates, which will be properly disposed.
5.9. ASBESTOS, LEAD-BASED PAINT AND PCB SURVEY
AGE will use an independent contractor to provide the asbestos and lead-based paint survey. AGE
will conduct the survey for equipment likely to contain PCB-bearing fluids.
5.10. LEAD FLUORESCENCE SURVEY
A fluorescence survey of the solder flux room and plating bath areas will be conducted by a qualified
technician. The survey will be conducted to identify and locate lead contamination of the walls and
flooring of the rooms.
5.11. STEAM-CLEANING OF PLATING AND SOLDER FLUX ROOMS
An independent contractor will be engaged to steam-clean the plating bath areas and the solder flux
room with a pressure washer under AGE observation. The steam-cleaning effort will be focused on
flooring and accessible walls identified as impacted by staining and/or the fluorescence survey.
Advanced Gen Environmental,Inc
