Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc. 7
otWorthern California
13 October 1997
AGE-NC Project 97-0372
Mr. John Hinkel
11122 E. Comstock Road
Stockton, California 95215
Subject: Soil Sampling
RV CIRCUITS
916 South Center Street, Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Hinkel:
In accordance with your request,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) has prepared this report
for soil sampling performed at the referenced site. The site is located on the southeast comer of
South Center Street and Worth Street (Figure 1). The area of investigation was formerly used for
sand blasting. The depth to ground water at the site is approximately 35 feet bsg.
On 25 September 1997, eight soil borings were advanced at the site. Borings were advanced at
former locations of sumps and at cracks in the cement floor. Boring locations are illustrated on
Figure 2. A concrete corer was used to cut through the cement floor and a hand auger was used to
advance each boring. Soil samples were collected at depths of 2 and 5 feet below.surface grade(bsg)
using a metric soil sampler loaded with two 2 by 3-inch brass sleeves. All sampling equipment was
washed in a solution of Alconox prior to collection of each sample. After collection, the ends of the
lead brass sleeve were covered with Teflon sheets, capped and sealed with tape. The sleeves were
labeled, placed in a chilled container and transported to Alpha Analytical Laboratories, Inc. (AAL)
in Ukiah under chain-of-custody. Each sample was analyzed for chromium, copper and zinc in
accordance with method 6010 and for pH in accordance with method SW9045.
Chromium was detected at concentrations ranging from 18 to 69 mg/kg (milligrams per kilogram,
equivalent to parts per million, ppm); concentrations that are well below the total threshold limit
concentration (TTLC) of 2,500 ppm. The soluble threshold limit concentration (STLC) for
chromium is 5 milligrams per liter (equivalent to ppm). Two samples, B1-2 and B7-5, with
concentrations of 69 mg/kg and 57 mg/kg, slightly exceed a concentration of 10 times the STLC of
50 mg/1 (10 x 5 mg/l).
Copper was detected at concentrations ranging from 26 ppm to 60 ppm in all samples except 137-2
and B7-5, which had concentrations o£780 ppm and 380 ppm, respectively. These concentrations
1803 West March Lane, Suite A.Stockton,California 95207
Telephone(209)956-0264 FAX(209)956-0700
