5) Drum Storage 55-gallon drums of petroleum products are stored at several locations at this facility. All 55-gallon drums used for storage are DOT Spec. 17E Drums. a) Garage Six to ten 55-gallon drums of motor oil, hydraulic oil, and automatic transmission oil are stored inside the Garage for daily use. There are also two 60-gallon and one 250-gallon motor oil storage tanks, which contain motor oil for vehicles. They are stored in the wash rack area of the garage. Possible Spill Occurrence: i) Small spills could occur during transfer of oil from a drum to a smaller container. A maximum of 5 gallons could be spilled and the oil would be contained within the interior of the Garage or the oil/water separator in the wash rack area. ii) The largest potential spill would be from the rupture of a drum due to overturning during handling (manually or with a forklift) . A maximum of 250 gallons of oil could be spilled. Interior spills would be contained within the interior of the Garage or the oil/water separator in the wash rack area. b) Warehouse Building Loading Dock Fifteen to twenty 5-gallon containers of lubricating oil are stored on the loading dock area for stock. Possible Spill Occurrence: i) The largest potential spill would be from the rupture of a container due to overturning during handling (manually or with a forklift) . A maximum of 5 gallons of oil could be spilled. Interior spills would be contained within the loading dock area. c) Storage Area Adjacent to Transformer Repair Buildin Eight to ten 55-gallon drums of transformer oil are stored on asphalt pavement along the east side of the Transformer Repair Building. This area drains to a catch basin that flows through an oil/water separator located at the south end of the yard. The separator would contain any oil spilled within this area. 3-6
