• • <br /> 6) Oil-Filled Eguipment in Storage <br /> a) Storage Area #1 North of the Electric Department Storage <br /> Building <br /> Approximately 1,200 pieces of new oil-filled electrical <br /> equipment are stored as working stock on this asphalt paved <br /> area. This area drains to an oil/water separator located at <br /> the west end of the yard. The separator would contain any oil <br /> spilled within this area. The amount of oil-filled equipment <br /> stored in this area varies. The volume of oil in the various <br /> pieces of equipment ranges from 10 to 60 gallons. <br /> Possible Spill Occurrence: <br /> i) Overturning during The volume of oil that could reason- <br /> handling with a ably be expected to spill is 10-60 <br /> forklift: gallons. Operations and maintenance <br /> personnel are trained in safe <br /> operation of forklifts to avoid such <br /> occurrences. Spills would be <br /> contained by the underground <br /> oil/water separator located at the <br /> west end of the yard. The separator <br /> has ample holding capacity for the <br /> maximum spill that may occur. <br /> ii) Leakage during Any equipment that shows signs of <br /> storage: leakage is immediately drained of <br /> oil or placed in a plastic-lined <br /> wood box. The storage area is <br /> inspected daily for signs of <br /> leakage. No more than 5 to 10 <br /> gallons of oil could reasonably be <br /> expected to leak before it would be <br /> discovered. Any leakage would be <br /> contained by the oil/water separator <br /> located at the west end of the yard. <br /> b) Storage Area #2 South of the Employee Parking Lot <br /> Approximately 150 pieces of refurbished or new oil-filled <br /> electrical equipment are stored as emergency, surplus and <br /> committed stock on this asphalt paved area. This area drains <br /> to an oil/water separator located at the south end of the yard. <br /> The separator would contain any oil spilled within this area. <br /> The amount of oil-filled equipment stored in this area varies. <br /> The volume of oil in the various pieces of equipment ranges <br /> from 20 to 830 gallons. <br /> 3-8 <br />
