TT-C-800 , Type I , unless other type acceptable <br /> to Engineer . <br /> 11 . 5 . 4 Proportioning and Design of Mixes : <br /> Design mix shall conform to California Administrative <br /> Code , Section T22-94305(c ) , method B or method C . <br /> 11 . 5 . 4. 1 Submit written reports to Engineer for proposed mix <br /> for concrete at least 15 days prior to start of work . <br /> Do not begin concrete production until mixes have been <br /> reviewed by Engineer . <br /> 11 . 5 . 4. 2 Design mixes to provide normal weight concrete with <br /> the following properties : 2 , 000 psi 28 - day <br /> compressive strength for slabs on grade . <br /> 11 . 5 . 5 Admixtures : <br /> 11 . 5 . 5 . 1 Use water-reducing admixture in all concrete . <br /> 11 . 5 . 5 . 2 Use air - entraining admixture in exterior exposed <br /> concrete . Add air - entraining admixture at <br /> manufacturer ' s prescribed rate to result in concrete <br /> at point of placement having air content within 3% to <br /> 5% . Maximum total air content shall not exceed 3% in <br /> concrete with surface hardener . <br /> 11 . 5 . 5 . 3 Slump Limits : Proportion and design mixes to result <br /> in concrete slump at point of placement of 4 - 1 / 2 " . <br /> Maximum slump shall be 3 " for concrete with surface <br /> hardener . <br /> 11 . 5 . 5 . 4 Admixtures that increase bleeding shall not be used in <br /> concrete with surface hardener . <br /> XI-3 <br />
