Specification No . : RGS0024-87 <br /> Part II - SPECIFIC CONDITIONS <br /> Section 11 - Concrete Work <br /> 11 . 5 . 6 Concrete Mixes : <br /> 11 . 5 . 6 . 1 Ready -Mix Concrete : Comply with requirements of <br /> ANSI/ASTM C94. <br /> 11 . 6 Part 3 - Execution <br /> 11 . 6 . 1 Forms : Erect , support brace , and maintain formwork to <br /> support vertical and lateral loads that might be applied <br /> until such loads can be supported by concrete structure . <br /> Construct formwork so concrete members and structures <br /> are of correct size , shape , alignment , elevation , and <br /> position. <br /> 11 . 7 Placing Reinforcement : <br /> Comply with Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute ' s <br /> recommended practice for "Placing Reinforcing Bars , " for <br /> details and methods of reinforcement placement and <br /> supports , and as herein specified . Clean reinforcement of <br /> loose rust and mill scale , earth , ice , and other materials <br /> which reduce or destroy bond with concrete . <br /> 11 . 7 . 1 Accurately position , support and secure reinforcement <br /> against displacement by formwork, construction , concrete <br /> placement operations . <br /> 11 . 7 . 2 Install welded wire mesh in as long as practicable . Lap <br /> adjoining pieces at least one full mesh and lace splices <br /> with wire . Offset end laps in adjacent widths to <br /> prevent continuous laps in either direction. <br /> 11 . 8 Installation of Embedded Items : <br /> 11 . 8 . 1 General : Set and build into forms anchorage devices and <br /> other embedded items required for other work that is <br /> attached to , or supported by , cast-in-place concrete . <br /> 11 . 8 . 2 Edge Forms and Screened Strips for Slabs : Set edge <br /> forms or bulk-heads and intermediate screed strips for <br /> slabs to obtain required elevations and contours in <br /> finished slab surface .
