' BANKS & CO <br /> ' It is the intent of this program to make all personnel aware of the many <br /> hazards which may be encountered and how to avoid them. On the job training <br /> is the most effective way to learn and apply safe work practices and accident <br /> prevention. It is not possible to teach you every aspect of safety on paper <br /> ' in this program, experience in the field will always be your best teacher. If <br /> you are in doubt as to the safest way to accomplish any task, always ask <br /> before you act. Safety is a part of everyone's job. <br /> ' 13.01 CODE OF SAFE OPERATIONS <br /> 1. This code of safe operations shall be read by all employees prior to <br /> ' employment by this company and adherence shall be a condition of <br /> employment. <br /> 2. Hard hats shall be worn when needed while on any construction project. <br /> ' 3. Proper foot wear shall be worn. Shoes with badly worn or torn soles <br /> shall not be worn. <br /> ' 4. Observe good housekeeping always. <br /> 5. If you are in doubt as to the safety or safest method of a condition or <br /> in completing a job, get proper instruction before you proceed. <br /> ' 6. Report all accidents, immediately. <br /> 7. Always use the safest method to complete a job. <br /> ' 8. Know the location of all first-aid, fire extinguisher and other emergen- <br /> cy equipment and phone numbers of closest emergency services. <br /> 9. Use proper protective clothing or gear for specified situations. <br /> 10. Store flammables in their proper containers and areas. <br /> 11. Never enter an un-shored or unsafe trench which requires attention to <br /> ' make it safe. Alert a supervisor. <br /> 12. Never enter a trench without a ladder present within the excavation. <br /> ' 13. Lift with your legs, not your back. <br /> 14. Get proper instructions before using trench shores. <br /> ' 15. Equipment shall be operated only by qualified personnel. <br /> 16. If you have special health conditions, or problems make your employer <br /> ' aware of them. <br /> 17. No liquor, drugs or intoxicated materials will be allowed at any time. <br /> 18. Protect each others safety always. Be aware of hazards to others and to <br /> the public. <br /> 19. Never enter an unsecured excavation and never go into an excavation <br /> ' without someone watching from on top. <br /> 20. Do not use broken or damaged tools.
