METHODS FOR THE SAFE HANDLING OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS Each hazardous material utilized by the Center shall be handled in accordance with the "Precautions for Safe Handling and Use" as contained in its Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). The MSDSs for a[I hazardous materials utilized by the Center are contained in Appendix A of this Plan. The Center's Hazard Communications Program is contained Appendix C of this Plan. B. PROCEDURE FOR NOTIFICATION AND COORDINATION WITH EMERGENCY AGENCIES 1. In the event of a spill, release, or threatened release, regardless of size, involv- ing a hazardous material,the event will be reported to the Emergency Coordina- tor immediately. 2. The Emergency Coordinator (or the Assistant Manager in their absence) will determine if the spill, or release, or threatened release is reportable. if it is de- termined to be reportable, the Emergency Coordinator will immediately report the release or spill to the emergency response agency. He/she will also notify the Local Administrative Agency. E, copy of this Plan is to be kept adjacent to g the telephone located in the office area. The Emergency Response Team will a be notified, if not present. C. USE OF EMERGENCY RESPONSE EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES UNDER THE `r CONTROL OF HANDLER �c c=6 1. The Center shall maintain the following equipment and supplies on hand in Stor- g age Area#1 designated on the Facility payout Map B2 which is shown on page 21 of this Pian: • 200 feet of Barricade Tape (Yellow w/ Black Stripes) • 100 pounds of inert absorbent material. • One 55 gal. empty drum with removable top, clearly marked for the storage of hazardous waste materials. • Two pair of industrial grade Neoprene gloves. Two pair of safety goggles.
