METHODS FOR THE SAFE HANDLING OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS <br /> Each hazardous material utilized by the Center shall be handled in accordance <br /> with the "Precautions for Safe Handling and Use" as contained in its Material Safety <br /> Data Sheet (MSDS). The MSDSs for a[I hazardous materials utilized by the Center <br /> are contained in Appendix A of this Plan. The Center's Hazard Communications <br /> Program is contained Appendix C of this Plan. <br /> B. PROCEDURE FOR NOTIFICATION AND COORDINATION WITH EMERGENCY <br /> AGENCIES <br /> 1. In the event of a spill, release, or threatened release, regardless of size, involv- <br /> ing a hazardous material,the event will be reported to the Emergency Coordina- <br /> tor immediately. <br /> 2. The Emergency Coordinator (or the Assistant Manager in their absence) will <br /> determine if the spill, or release, or threatened release is reportable. if it is de- <br /> termined to be reportable, the Emergency Coordinator will immediately report <br /> the release or spill to the emergency response agency. He/she will also notify <br /> the Local Administrative Agency. E, copy of this Plan is to be kept adjacent to <br /> g <br /> the telephone located in the office area. The Emergency Response Team will <br /> a <br /> be notified, if not present. <br /> C. USE OF EMERGENCY RESPONSE EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES UNDER THE <br /> `r CONTROL OF HANDLER <br /> �c <br /> c=6 <br /> 1. The Center shall maintain the following equipment and supplies on hand in Stor- <br /> g age Area#1 designated on the Facility payout Map B2 which is shown on page <br /> 21 of this Pian: <br /> • 200 feet of Barricade Tape (Yellow w/ Black Stripes) <br /> • 100 pounds of inert absorbent material. <br /> • One 55 gal. empty drum with removable top, clearly marked for the <br /> storage of hazardous waste materials. <br /> • Two pair of industrial grade Neoprene gloves. <br /> Two pair of safety goggles. <br />
