1
There are several reasons for this device to trip:
1 . A customer can hold the nozzle open before turning on the
pump, thus tripping it .
1 2. In cold weather , the product can contras=t while the station
is closed at night .
3. The device could be defective.
4. The devis=e is sensing a leak:.
WHAT TO DO
If the leak detector trips, you can reset it by simply turning on
one of the gas dispensers of that product type and letting it run
for a minimum of 30 seconds without dispensing fuel from that
nozzle or any other of that product type. This pressurizes the
line and resets the detector .
If the leak: detector continues to trip or starts to trip every
morning, CALL THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT B(J0-924-3273.
' If you cannot get the detector to reset or it trips more than
once, call the Maintenance Department and shut the product down
that is giving the problem.
NOTE: You do not have to shut the whole gas island down, just the
produc=t type that is giving Y---U trouble.
b) LEAF:: SENSOR.. II - In the backroom of the store is a monitor box
that says Leak: Sensor II .
This device monitors the cavity between the primary and secondary
' fuel tanks and trench liner for gasoline or water .
These units have a set of alarm lights, a power light , and an
audible alarm to inform the personnel in the store if anything is
wrong. This unit must be checked daily to make sure the power
light is on and there have been no alarms.
If an alarm light comes on, but no audible alarm is heard, the
unit is detecting water somewhere in the secondary containment
and must be called in to Maintenance to be checked and reset .
If an alarm light c=omes on and an audible alarm is heard, the
unit is detecting gasoline somewhere in the sec=ondary containment
' and must be called into Maintenance to repair and reset . The
audible alarm can be turned uff by pushing the button or the
silent switch, but the red light will remain on.
You do not have to shut down the gas island if this unit trips,
but you must inform Maintenance when any of the alarm lights or
audible alarms trip.
c ) VISUAL INSPECTION - A visual inspection of the gasoline
dispensers is to be done every week. This consists of opening
up the lower panels of each dispenser and visually inspecting any
J
