FROM :
CVC & abe
PHONE NO. :
209 983 9536
May. 16 2001
12:30PM P3
groundwater contamination from both the UST and from an Above
Ground 10,000 gallongasoline Tank (AST). They further stated
that the domestic well was possibly contaminated with :Fuel
products_
JPCA tested the domestic well on January 10, 2001. No detectable
contaminants were identified from this sampling event.
The proposed scope of work included a site visit, a description
of the field work, sampling of the domestic well, soil and
groundwater in the area of the former UST excavation and a report
of Pindinge, summary and recommendations.
Based on a review of the U S GEOLOGICAL SURVEY map, the implied...
regional gradient is,'westerly.
FIELD WORK
On April 27, 2001, John F. Cummings of JPCA took samples of soil
and water from the subject property. ae met with Phillip Vallejo
of Central Valley Construction, William Maloney of Maloney
Construction and Tony Mocetti a local contractor. The excavator
for the digging of the trench in the former tank areas was
provided by Maloney Construction.
A Photoionization Detector (PIA) was employed to field screen, in
order to determine the organic vapor, if any, boing emitted from
the excavated soil.! Tha PID reading for background was 2 or 3
Parts Per Million [PPM].
The former UST area was identified by Tony Mocetti, a local
contractor, who had 'worked on the property when the UST and AST
were removed from the site. His local for the AST and UST
locations were confirmed by aerial photographs of the site.
The first excavation was a trench in the former UST area. From
the surface to approximately 12 feet below grade the vapor
readings were in the range of 2 - 3 PPM.
A soil sample (Soil ,l) was collected, in a clean brass liner, at
approximately 14 fest below grade. This sample was taken in the
native soil at a level reported to be below the former UST.
At approximately 15,faet below grade a moist, sandy, grey black
Ions was encountered. The PID reading ranged from 28 - 40 PPM.
One soil sample (Soil 2) was collected from this sandy lens.
Groundwater was encountered at approximately 18 feet. A clean
bailor was used to collect the groundwater sample. The
groundwater sample was placed in 4-40ml VOAs with Teflon, seals
and Ona Liter pre cleaned glass container with Teflon seal.
2
