guarantees. <br /> (e) Summary data on the low-interest loan program established pursuant to Chapter 8.5 <br /> (commencing with Section 15399.10)of Part 6.7 of Division 3 of Title 2 of the Government <br /> Code for the repair or replacement of leaking underground storage tanks. <br /> (f) Recommendations for a permanent program to further the intent of this chapter,including <br /> recommendations as to the use of the insurance fund to provide coverage for owners and <br /> operators of underground storage tanks for liability under federal law arising out of <br /> unauthorized releases of petroleum into the environment from these tanks. <br /> j <br /> 1 Article 9.Sunset Provision <br /> I <br /> § 25299.81 <br /> 1 (a) Except as provided in subdivision (b) and (c), this chapter shall remain in effect only until <br /> January 1, 1998,and as of that date is repealed,unless a later enacted statute, which is <br /> 7 enacted before January 1, 1998,deletes or extends that date. i <br /> 1 (b) Notwithstanding subdivision (a), Article 1 (commencing with Section 25299.10), Article 2 <br /> (commencing with section 25299.11),and Article 4 (commencing with Section 25299.36) <br /> shall not be repealed and shall remain in effect on January 1, 1998. <br /> (c) The repeal of this chapter does not terminate any of the following rights,obligations, or <br /> authorities,or any provision necessary to carry out these rights and obligations. <br /> (1) The filing and payment of claims against the fund,until the moneys in the fund are <br /> exhausted. Upon exhaustion of the fund, any remaining claims shall be invalid. <br /> (2) The repayment of loans,outstanding as of January 1, 1998,due and payable to the <br /> board under the terms of Chapter 8.5(commencing with Section 15399.10)of Part 6.7 <br /> of Division 3 of Title 2 of the Government Code. <br /> (3) The resolution of any cost recovery action. <br /> i <br /> BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONS CODE 1 <br /> § 7028.1. <br /> Any contractor who performs or engages in asbestos related work,as defined in Section 6501.8 of <br /> the Labor Code,without certification pursuant to Section 70585 of this code,or who performs or <br /> engages in a removal or remedial action,as defined in subdivision(d)of Section 7058.7,or,on or <br /> after January 1, 1992,bids for the installation or removal of,or installs or removes,an <br /> underground storage tank,without certification pursuant to Section 7058.7,is subject to one of the <br /> following penalties: <br /> (a) Conviction of a first offense is an infraction punishable by a fine of not less than one <br /> thousand dollars ($1,000) or more than three thousand dollars($3,000),and by possible <br /> revocation or suspension of any contractor's license. <br /> (b) Conviction of a subsequent offense is a misdemeanor requiring revocation or suspension of <br /> any contractor's license, and a fine of not less than three thousand dollars ($3,000)or more <br /> than five thousand dollars($5,000),or imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding one <br /> year,or both the fine and imprisonment.
