0
' O.E.S. - Sullivan 6 Mann Lumber
June 19, 1991
' Page -2-
The pan was corroded at the seams and at the bung and generally
' was in poor condition. The native soil surrounding the pan
consisted of light brown, silty, fine to coarse sand. The native
' soil was stained a red-brown color beneath the tank and along the
' four walls of the excavation. No groundwater was encountered in
the excavation. For safety purposes, the excavation was
' backfilled with the excavated soil and barricaded with temporary
chain link fencing following sampling procedures .
2 . 1 Soil Samples
1 Two soil samples were collected from below the floor of the
' excavation after the pan was removed (See Figure 2 for sample
locations) . At the direction of the county representative,
' sample 145P-TRI-W was taken from beneath the west end of the pan
at a depth of 9 feet below the ground surface and sample 145P-
TK1-E was taken from beneath the east end of the pan at a depth
' of 12 feet.
' The soil samples were taken by driving a clean brass sleeve
into soil brought to the surface in a backhoe bucket. The
' samples were sealed with aluminum foil, capped, wrapped with duct
tape, labeled, placed in a cooler chilled with Blue Ice, and
delivered within 24 hours under chain-of-custody procedures to
tGeoAnalytical Laboratories in Modesto, California, for analysis.
tN
' CONDOR
