' 3.0 CHEMICAL ANALYSIS AND RESULTS
' 3.1 Analytical Methodology
The SJEHD requested the following analytical methods be performed on the soil
' samples.
• EPA Method 8015 for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline (TPH-G) and
' Diesel (TPH-D)
• EPA Method 8260B for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) including
' Oxygenates
• EPA Method 6010 for Cadmium, Chromium, Lead, Nickel, and Zinc.
' • EPA Method 8082 for Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs)
' 3.2 Analytical Results
A summary of the soil analytical results is presented in Table 1. A copy of the laboratory
' reports and chain-of-custody record are included in Appendix D.
' The results of the analyses from of the soil samples collected from the excavation indicate
the following:
' • TPH-G concentrations were detected in each of the soil samples collected from
beneath the UST with concentrations ranging from 0.51 milligrams per kilogram
(mg/kg) in soil sample B-1-7 to 9.3 mg/kg in soil sample B-2-8.5. TPH-G was not
detected above laboratory reporting limits in the stockpile soil samples.
• TPH-D concentrations were detected in each of the soil samples collected from
' beneath the UST with concentrations ranging from 10 mg/kg in soil sample B-2-9.5
to 420 mg/kg in soil sample B-2-8.5. TPH-D was not detected above laboratory
reporting limits in stockpile soil sample SP-1-A&B and detected in stockpile soil
' sample SP-2-A&B at 7.7 mg/kg.
• VOCs were not detected in the soil samples collected beneath the UST with the
exception of naphthalene in soil sample B-2-8.5, detected at a concentration of
0.035 mg/kg. VOCs were not detected above laboratory reporting limits in the
stockpile soil samples.
Cadmium, chromium, lead, nickel, and zinc were all detected at concentrations that
indicate background conditions for metals.
• PCBs were not detected above laboratory reporting limits in the soil samples
collected beneath the UST or in the stockpile soil samples.
4
