2. In the event of any alarm, the shop supervisor on duty will immediately contact the
Environmental Services Department at the general office by referring to the Fuel
Spill Reporting Procedures Guide included in the location's Spill Prevention
Control and Countermeasure Plan. The supervisor on duty will also immediately
contact the shop maintenance manager.
3. The maintenance supervisor on duty will inspect the TLS-250 control panel and
determine if the alarm is the result of a failed sensor or a fuel and/or water leak.
4. If the alarm is the result of a sensor failure, the local Veeder-Root representative will
be contacted and the sensor will either be repaired or replaced. The telephone
number of the local Veeder-Root representative is Shields Harper and Co.
(209) 462-9211 .
5. If the alarm is the result of a suspected fuel and/or water failure, the maintenance
supervisor on duty will immediately shut down the use of the underground storage
tank. The supervisor will also ensure all pumps that may be associated with the
tank that has the suspected failure are turned off at the circuit breaker.
6. The maintenance supervisor on duty, with the assistance of an Environmental
Services representative, will contact the local licensed waste hauler and/or product
delivery supplier to be contracted with a later date (prior to facility opening) to
extract the product from the annular space. The hauler and/or product supplier
will have the necessary equipment to remove the product via the tank's fiberglass
reservoir and 2" riser pipe.
7. The maintenance supervisor will also immediately take steps to remove the
product in the tank itself by contacting the local licensed waste hauler and/or the
product delivery supplier.
8. The maintenance supervisor on duty will also contact the local Veeder-Root
representative to check out the system and verify if a release occurred and was
not an equipment failure.
9. In the event local haulers and/or product suppliers (to be contracted with at a later
date) are not available, Yellow Freight System has available an emergency
response contractor available. This contractor is Ecology and Environment, and
they can be reached at (716) 684-8060 or (716) 684-8940.
10.
